The Arden head in David Vizards Modify Mini book is still in production and
marketed by Mini Spares in the UK and Mini Mania in the USA.  The main
advantage of the head is the torque rather than horsepower it produces.  One
disadvantage of this head is that there is not much in the way of cams to run
with it. All and more in the A Series book.

KAD make a 16 valve head that fits A Series engines.  At least one Spridget
owner in england fitted one to their car's engine.  The head makes for a tall
installation requiring a bonnet bulge.  The car was for sale c/o Frontline
Ltd.  My opinion is that if you are going to stick with an A series engine and
would massive horsepower you should turbocharge or supercharge it.  For the
price and aggro of converting to a KAD 16V dohc head you could fit a 1.8VVC K
series and have change left over as well as ultimately a faster car and less
stressed engine.

The alexander head is altogether different.

Pearce Manifolds in the USA have just produced an alloy 5 port head.
