I had a similar problem with mine, only I had one 350 pound guy standing on
the block, about a 6 foot metal bar, with me hanging from the bar and
bouncing.  Result?  Bent the bar and knocked the guy off the block.  I got
to looking closely at the nut, and down in there hidden by the shadow, I
saw that somebody had spot welded the nut onto the crankshaft.  A quick
trip down to Pep Boys later, I had the bolt broken free.  I took the block
there, pulled up in a mini-van, slid the door open, handed the guy my
socket, he popped it on his air wrench and broke that nut off in no time.
Didn't charge me either.
