I couldn't agree more. I use the local tire company, his prices are
great but who knows, maybe I could save a few bucks at a national chain
but when I go there and have them swap good tires to different rims or
install mail order tires (10" mini tires) they could not get, they tell
me to just tip the installer. So for $20 everybody is happy.
They know me by name, they usually fix (plug) flats for nothing, (nice
if you are a carpenter and drive over nails monthly)
They know my driving habits so they recommend the correct tire for each
vehicle.
Wire wheels! They do not like them but for me they will manually install
them. They also showed me how to remove tires from rims at home using
a bottle jack and my pick up truck.

Dunlop SP4s, 165/70 x 13.
Resonably priced, nice wet weather handling. In stock at my local tire
shop. (because they know me)
