The rib case was originally supplied with all 1275's.  The smooth case
will fit it, no problem, but it isn't made to hold that much torque from
a 1275 and it has synchronizer cones instead of baulk rings for changing
gears smoothly.  The smooth case will NOT fit a 1098 with a large clutch
cover with out some modification to the case.  Putting a ribcase on a 948
with the original thin engine backing plate may create a problem with the
input shaft bottoming in the end of the crankshaft, creating a no neutral
problem.  Said MAY, not all hang up like that.  Put on a 1098 thick
backing plate and the problem is solved.
