The problem is that neither the Shorrock or Judson like high rpm and
ultimately that restricts the amount of power that can be developed.  However,
for a fast road Spridget a well put together blown 948 ought to give a 286
cammed well put together 1275 a run for its money.  The 948 would benefit from
a decent head job, mild cam (has to be for the blower to work effectively) and
stuff like that.
