Bob,
it can get very complicated.
On the Fiat forum, there are some vendors actively involved in the tech
discussions and are considered "friends" (like Peter C. on this list). On
this Spridgets list, the vendors are usually the evil empires etc. that
are ok to flame. On the Fiat forum, a vendor who makes and sells tops was
flamed by 1 or 2 people because they thought his tops didn't fit right and
he took too long to ship. It quickly became obvious how damaging these
flames are. Before, the "list feel" was that these tops were high quality
and cheap, many people had used them and liked them. But one or two
comments made about the supposedly poor fit sticks in everybody's mind.
This one comment can cost the vendor a lot of business.

Of course the convertible top case is much more subjective, poor fit can
result from poor home installation. The case at hand here was more solid,
no oil filter is no oil filter.
