Valve cover leak (1500)

Hello-

My valve cover appears to leaking out some oil on one side, at the forward 
half of the engine. Should a new, $3.75 valve cover gasket do the trick? How 
do I remove the valve cover? Is there anything I should clean once I have the 
cover off? As you can tell, I've never tried this before, I'll take whatever 
help I can get.
