Using all those chemicals to remove rust is the hard way to do it. A better
way is to use electrolysis. All you need is a small, cheap battery charger,
a tub of water, some washing soda, and an iron rod. You put the part to be
de-rusted in the tub of solution, along with the iron rod, connect the (+)
side of the battery charger to the part to be de-rusted and the (-) side of
the battery charger to the iron rod, leave it over night, and check it the
next day. Kevin Valentine, a Spridget lister, sent me the complete
directions by e-mail a few months ago, but I don't know how to attach it to
this note, and it's too long to recopy. Maybe he will post it again on the
