Hi Mike,

All of the glyptal that I have ever seen is more brown orange than red.  
Guess it could have color added.  Glyptal has been used for years to coat 
"bare" electrical wire because it is an electrical insulator.  I would be a 
bit nervous about using it in an engine because it has a tendency to flake 
off of parts.
