the process of cleaning and oiling is quite common in other circles for that
era and erlier types of air filters. honestly the wire mesh and or the
steel wool looking( usually shredded aluminum) elements are not very
effective. though period correct, if you really love your car's engine the
original style early air filters are best saved for those "car show"
weekends. and fit some sort of more modern style of air cleaner with a
filter capeable of filtering dust from the incoming air for daily driving
and weekend tours. and yes i know i like their looks too:)
