Peter,
Maybe the flywheel is very out of balance (or the clutch is?). Have you
thought about having a machine shop give it a dynamic balance? At the
threads damaged in the crank?

Daniel: I did. Correct torque--absolutely positive of that, and loctite, I
am pretty sure. IN fact I am almost certain I used loctite since I had
loctited the allen screws in the pressure plate too. >>
