Here's my 2c,

Original Bug tunnel cover is not to be had except if u are licky
enough to find vgc one second hand.

On my concours Bug I have resolved to take a 10 point flat
originality penalty for having a matching color Mark II carpet set
@ $209.95 from Moss. This is a very reasonable 1% deduction, and
IMHO has the benefit of having a much nicer looking interior.

I am not sure I would spend a big buck to go back to those (IMHO)
flimsy, ugly, poor fitting, rubbermaid style floor mat sets.

I spend the money where I get the biggest point benefit per dollar
spent - and on the early Bug there are lot's of other hurdles that
are going to cost u time, effort and money. For e.g. try to find
an early style 1 inch opening Tudor washer bottle, an operating
crimped tach drive, - original tire valves, tool bits, bolts &
screws & clamps, battery tray, spark plug brass connectors, -
correct non Moss air duct, color trunk hardura, trunk side panels.
I could go on, but do not wish to bore the practical sided
listers.

If u do the rest of the car to C-spec u will effectively be marked
out of 99 points and still have another 4 to lose before u slip
from gold into silver.
