I wrapped my headers. It cuts down on heat in the engine compartment
some. I'm sure if the header pipes were over-wrapped almost all heat
from this source would be passed on to the tailpipe. However, only
one layer of wrap should be used or the header tubes overheat and
corrode quickly. In fact, many will claim that any use of wrap at all
is bad for mild steel headers. I think that the horsepower gain is
fairly far up the rpm range. I cannot discriminate the power benefits
of the header wrap (if any) as mine is a newly-rebuilt engine with a
lot more power and torque.
