I need a cheap fix for my door mounted rear view mirror.
The convex glass and a chintzy, broken white plastic "retaining" ring
fell out (I saved them!). Looks like someone once tried to
glue these pieces in with silicone, which evidently doesn't stick to the
plastic well.
The short of it: I want some suggestions for a replacement!
Anybody know where I can just buy a replacement mirror head?
(Neither Moss nor VikkyBrit list a door-mounted mirror with the
specific 1 7/8" mounting base that is on my '72 Midget. VikkyBrit
comes close with 1 13/16, but no matter how many times I measure,
it's still 1 7/8".)
In the meantime, I'm trying to glue the glass into the metal disk using
silicone caulking without the plastic retainer. We'll see.
