Sure, you can buy one off a lot, but you will pay over MSRP. Chrysler
has cancelled all factory orders that haven't been filled, since they
just don't have the production capacity. All the current production has
already been allocated to either meet dealer allocations, or to fill
customer factory orders. Chrysler has told dealers not to take anymore
orders, so if a dealer tells you he can order one from the factory with
your name, it is either part of his unfilled allocation, or they are
just full of sh*t.
The one I had on order was for MSRP, however it's funny how most the
cars that show up for general sale, were ones that were customer factory
orders, that were refused at delivery time. The sticker on mine said
'buit especially for xxxxx' which indicates it was factory ordered.
