i see no problem with a properly installed sleeve.   back in the old days of
building hot small blocks (chevy) it was a common thing to leave a bare
block out side in the weather  for around a year to "season".   then bore it
anddo all machine operations upon it for the transformation into a race
motor.  if the requirements of needed cylinder bore were exceeded either by
rust or wear in it's prior life it was not uncommon to sleeve all 8 holes.
this was a very commom practice with the old school circle track engine
builders.  it also preceeds today's new bare blocks being offered.  but it
was a functional procedure for engines that were to go fast under extreme
conditions.   so why not install new sleeves and finish for a standard
available piston , or custom slugs that fit the existing bore?  heck, the
engine will probably out live the restoration.
