Hi All,

I live in Portland. I was talking with a customer in Seattle when the
quake struck up there. Lots of noise in the background, lots of profanity
from customer. It went on for an unusually long time, then it came through
my place. Bookcases swaying, house creaking, and lots of small choppy
waves. Went on for about 39-40 seconds then stopped except for small
waves. Not a lot of fun.

I've been through a lot of tremblers in California, the Tehachapi/Arvin
after shocks, many in San Francisco, several small ones in San Diego. You
could hear them coming like a freight train sound before the wave would
strike, but this one just went on and on, but fairly gentle in Portland.
My customer dropped the phone to steady his computer monitor. He thought
it was going to fall over! Was a good adrenaline rush, though!

Ulix lives near Seattle, wonder if he left for Germany yet!

Regards, Paul A

The news here has it on-the USGS just upgraded it to a 7.0! (The same
magnitude as the SF in '89)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Spit!-And that Rainier keeps quiet!
