'79 Midget, looks like California emmissions. At any rate, it has a gulp valve
and according to the drawings in Bentley, only the '79 California cars had gulp
valves.
Anyway, it's supposed to be attached to a bracket by three screws, which are
missing. I pulled it off to get a closer look at the threads. As I did, I heard
something metallic drop onto my gravel driveway. I couldn't find whatever it
whas that fell out of the gulp valve. What was still inside was a small plastic
float on a spindle. It rattled around a lot, so whatever fell of I think held
it in place somewhat.
So I have 2 questions.
1. What goes in there? Can I fabricate/buy replacement parts, like washers or
speings or such? Just in browsing ebay and looking at the usual catalog
suspects I've gathered these things are fairly rare.
2. If I can't fix it, what might be a good way to "federalize" the car. I live
in New Jersey, and it does have to pass emissions. Looking at Bently, the 2
systems look different enough that it looks like a good PITA to change it
over...
Thanks in advance for any info.
