oil leaking on the exhaust manifold....

since the mating surface between the head and the block is below the exh.
man. i would rule that out.   oil(unless under high pressure) runs down hill
(unless the car is upside down, then disreguard this entire message...lol!).
to find oil leaks you always trace them backwards from the point that it was
noticed.   oil always leaves a trail from point of leak origin and knowing
it is subject to both gravity and windage you can locate most offenders
easily (except in extreme cases, then you start with a trip to a local car
wash and clean the years of gooop off with the pressure washer before you
can start).

now it is most likely either a leaking oil fill cap(rare) or a leaking valve
cover (either the rubber seals at both retainers or the gasket wich if it is
old has probably turned into petrified cork, read that....hard as a rock!)
.  just trace the oil leak to it's source.
