rob,
that cool brass junction / distribution block is the splitter for
hydraulic pressure coming from the master cylinder . the top or center
fitting is the brake switch port. the other 4 holes are just as you
described them. one to therear and 2 to the front. no proportioning. all
brake bias is figured out by factory design.
now you mention "O" rings??? like where ? the union you are holding should
be set up to accept the standard "bubble" flare common to all brit. cars of
the era. and if you are using new lines and tube nuts you will find you
need the long threaded nuts for these lockheed / girling hydraulics. they
have a rather deep threaded hole compared to more modern hydraulics(that
have a shallow threaded hole where either a brake tube nut threads in or a
hydraulic flexible hose threads in). and if you are creating new lines
from scratch you will also find you are in need of a "bubble" flaring
tool(as opposed to a double flaring tool that is common to domestic
vehicles). now that i have really confused you .........
as for routing of lines? try looking at a shop manual and see where the
lines are routed in engine compartment photos in the engine or transmission
sections? or open hood photos of cars in magazines or other books. my car
was so messed up when i did it that the only hopes for my getting the
routing correct was this method. i would recomend this method for
identification for any car not just spridgets or mini's. factory shop
manuals and aftermarket manuals have wonderfull factory or relativly new
(vehicles were near new when photos were taken and still unmolested)
photographs documenting disassembly and reassembly procedures for a bunch of
stuff that provide clues if not outright visual diagrams for returning
things back to original locations and conditions.

chuck.
back to my morgan nightmare! i have 17 more days and it's not finished
being painted yet! AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! let alone
reassembly! and the jefferson 500 at summit point is where it is
heading!...........c. :)
