If you want a 1400cc displacement, the Datsun/Nissan
210 motors fit right in with a little motor mount
fabrication. It also obviously fits the 5 speed we are
all installing in our cars as well. Bill at rivergate
has put these motors in spridgets for some time now,
and will share all the details with you. The 210 motor
was designed somewhat from the A-series powerplant. It
is a non-crossflow pushrod overhead valve design. The
distributor is even in a similar location. You can
find intakes, sidedraft webers or mikunis, and cams
for these motors. I raced a 210 in the 80's and it
made a lot of reliable horsepower and reved easily to
9000. I would have already done this but need to keep
the 1275 so that I do not get put into the Mod classes
for autocrossing and I may go to some SCCA races in
F-production.
