Sad, sad, sad................. I can truly relate................
When we had the '68 painted, there was some bondo work done to a dented area in
the front left corner of the bonnet. Whilst smearing the the bondo onto the area
to be filled, some of it was inadvertently placed into the grooves for the front
emblem. Can you see this one coming................??? I get the car home,
thankfully the guy from the body shop trailered it for me. I had this
overwhelming desire to place the brand new wings on the bright shiny red paint,
but alas, it was not to be. I was not to be denied my desire, so off to the rack
of small machinist files that I have. I chose a suitable file and went to work,
while the body man and paint man watch my antics. Needless to say, I was too
enthusiastic and the file "slipped"..................... giving me a wonderfully
large 6" - 8" scratch on the hood of this car that had not been home yet a half
hour. Men, let me tell you, there were tears with those cuss words to myself.
Fortunately, the guy took pity on my plight, and repaired my damage for me. My
wife still has controlling custody of said files.....................
Believe me, I feel your pain!!!!
