Pauls's "solution" brings up a question.  I have heard that you should never
close the heater valve.  The rear of the head will get hotter than the front if
you do, besides the added benefit of having the heater core as an additional way
of cooling the water/antifreeze.  How many of you guys leave this valve open all
the time and how many close it when summer comes along.  Inquiring minds....
