One other reason to put the disconnect switch on the NEG (assuming a
negative ground system) side of the battery is that if it has exposed
terminals or other electrically "hot" parts and something should
accidentally short to IT from the car ground, there is no major problem.
Increasing the amount of exposed stuff on the POS side of the battery is
more likely to cause a problem-everything on that side must be very
carefully insulated from metal of the car.
