well it was a monumental amount of driving back andforth since i was there
evry day from thursday to saturday. i spent most of thursday shopping while
our restored 67 impala was sitting in the car coral and only managed to
spend 5.00! on to friday where the race car reliability run happens in the
stadium. i had my 1967 SCCA H-modified sports racer there and was slated
as the last car on the day's program. i enjoyed blasting around the old
stadium in my father's restored old race car. in years past i had also
brought my bugeye too. it was registered for the meet but i lost the
availability of a second trailer to get the sprite there. also the sports
racer was going for an award in judging and i chose to register the bugeye
as an unjudged car. so the choice was to bring the car to be judged. next
came saturday morning....4am my alarm goes off and show day begins! 5:30am
finds us starting out on the highway towards our favorite spot for
breakfast. for 20 years i have met an old friend (who shows a beautifull
56 chevy belair 2dr hard top that has the factory hot rod 265 with dual 4bbl
carbs and three speed) along the way at a specified exit ramp and we caravan
together to the show. a friend's son was driving my impala , myself towing
the race car and ernie's red and beige 56 chevy, we looked like a rolling
car show! the night before it had rained so evrything i was showing got
wet and some what dirty. so show field clean up duty was a bit on the
serious side. the day cleared up and turned out to be a very nice day! i
was glad to see 3:00 arrive so we could load up and head home! i was very
tired. i saw allen and john at the show and quite a few old friends of
years past from the car show world. the hershey show is quite an
experience! cars and parts for cars the you only see in museums. i heard
french, italian, german, and numerous accents of english derivatives and
asians too. (those were the foregin languiges that i could identify) the
show is truly an internationally attended show!
by 9:30 i was in bed! (i'm a bit of a night owl and this was an extremely
early retirement for me!)
the impala has been put to bed for the winter and i have my trailer unhooked
but still loaded....possibly later today i'll get it unloaded and put away
the sports racer for the winter too.
now only a day later i am looking forward to next year....

chuck.
