Ok, so I bought the yellow midget because I had a spare engine in the garage
that the person who gave it to me said the person that gave it to them said
it was rebuilt... What was not relayed, or readily obvious until closer
inspection, was that a rod had blown through the side, and was then welded
up, and SILICONED on the inside of the block! My machine shop has been
really patient with this disassemble, inspect, and re-assemble that has
turned into a complete rebuild. The only thing that has gone according to
plan, is that there was a stock crankshaft that is still standard on the
mains and rods that didn't need reground. The engine is now back together,
and I pick it up tomorrow. Thursday, the rolling shell goes to Miracle for
paint. A new top is on its way from an ebay win, and so is a carpet kit. So
yeah, someone is still working on their cars after 9/11.
