Hopefully it is just something dumb. One time I put a set of SU's on a 
car and it idled fine but would not accelerate very well. Found it was 
the the linkage between the carbs was not tight. It would open one 
throttle but not the other. One trick to find vacume leaks is to use a 
unlit propane torch to go over the areas in question. When you come 
across a leak the engine will speed up a little
