I looked around for an alternator that was smaller, lighter & more powerful
than the '69 MGB Lucas alternator I had in my "Parts Department" when I was
about to convert from a generator. I looked at Delco & various Japanese
ones. Ended up with a stock looking Lucas case with Bosch internals. Why?
Size, weight & ease of mounting. All of the others had drawbacks of one
kind or another. The alternator from the '69 MGB was rebuilt using Japanese
components & now sits in the "Parts Dept." as a spare.

BUT, if someone has a great find, I'm always looking to save weight near the
ends of the car. When racing, weight removed from the ends of the car is
more beneficial than that removed from the middle. That means I don't have
to diet, right?
