Replace them all Mike, first chance you get. Yes, it could be from
previous over-
torquing and/or abuse in this respect. A
lot of guys don't bother with a smear of
oil before they torque them up. Then,
they get rusty and.........

Also, a good time to check/replace back brakes, adjusters, wheel
cylinders, etc.
since the back plates have ot come off
anyway. Bearings, etc., or anything else
back there that looks like it could use
checking/replacing.

I agree with you. I prefer the wheels stay
on the car also!! Could be very, very "expensive" in a lot of ways if
they don't.
