Getting into the discussion a bit late...
It seems a little unusual that an SCCA race rollbar could not be built to
meet specs and still allow use of a folding top/hardtop. So long as the
seat was mounted very low, you didn't use too much padding, and your torso
wasn't too long it would probably be possible to meet the regs. Doesn't the
current reg require the bottom of the roll bar to be 2" over the top of the
helmet? Are there other requirements that would make fitting a folding top
or a hardtop more difficult than this one?
