Perhaps.  SCCA rules, as I understand it, actually now requires that an
imaginary line drawn from the highest point of the front of the vehicle
to the roll cage must be at least 2" above the driver's helmet.  The
idea, of course, is that the pavement will replace that imaginary line
once the vehicle is flipped.  That could mean the rollbar itself has to
be a good bit higher than 2" above the helmet, depending upon the
configuration of the vehicle.

A couple of former vintage spridgets that I know that are now running in
Limited Prep in SCCA solved the problem by using the existing rollbar and
putting in a kind of halo around the drivers head.  The front part of the
halo required supports be put forward to the scuttle, which probably
would also interfere with a hardtop.
