Thread-topic: Getting gassed
Hi Spridgeteers, I have a Stebro twin outlet muffler on my Mk 2 Sprite. It
terminates about 1 inch beyond the bumper overider. I've never had a problem
with exhaust fumes...EVER...and I've been using this muffler since the early
90's. My wife says the only fumes inside the car come from ...uummmm...she's
overly sensitive.

FWIW, we experience this gassing with our '69 Sprite with Ansa-type twin pipes
that exit just beyond the bumper by 4 to 5 inches or so. Our '70 MGB does not
seem to have the problem at all, and that is with a stock exhaust system that
exits short of the rear pan, pointing down at a 45 degree angle. The Sprite
gets
less troublesome with this after careful tune-up and carb adjustment, but it
never seems to go away. There are no leaks, so it's all connected to
aerodynamics, I believe. I was thinking of modifying the Sprite exhaust tips to
exit in an angle (45 degree) to the driver's side at the rear, still beyond the
bumper. (My wife likes to see the chrome tips.) Anybody ever try this?
