And hopefully....
this time there will be no corporate/gov't,
irresponsibility involved, I hope, I hope,
I hope.
Accidents happen. It sucks, but they do.
They have become so commonplace we
don't even really think of them as we
turn the key every morning as to 40K+-
casualities per annum on our highways.
A postioning rocket failing even partially
to the extent "insertion" angle goes awry
as you impact the atmosphere at 12k, or
whatever? The are so many things that
can go wrong or even partially so on
something this sophisticated that it
boggles the mind we've been as successful (and lucky) as we've been
thus far, in this respect. Hats off to our
engineers, fabricators, etc.
I don't count the last one. That one was
totally avoidable and the fault of those
in authority on the ground (as usual) who's priorities had become
mis-placed,
both in NASA and Thiokol, requiring a
"time out" as "leadership" in both operations was replaced and
"corporate
cultures" for all concerned were examined
and "fixes" accomplished when found
necessary.
As to the survivors...words cannot express. Major bummer.
