speedo lubrication?

installing a new (chinese made cough crap cough) speedo cable. Do these require 
any lubrication? I was thinking 3 in 1 or other light oil ? Any thoughts? Im 
putting the trans end on and then ill feed it to the speedo once trans is in 
the car. -Josh
