I am in the process now of venting the sump to try to stem the oil leakage
problem in my 1500. I have drilled and tapped the unused fuel pump cover
and inserted a fitting over which I put a piece of hose. I am using flexible
copper tubing to route it to a PCV valve, then to the same collector
container (the old copper expansion tank from converting the radiator fill
cap from a Spitfire and eliminating the expansion tank from the cooling
system) that the valve cover will be vented straight into. No suction, just
venting. Hope this works. I am also replacing the cork pan gasket with a
more resiliant material gasket and using a non drying sealant on both sides
of it.
