As a 'department of daft ideas' c project I once used interwoven lengths of
seat belt webbing cut from scrap cars and sewn onto a chromed frame to make a
seat base and back. The webbing was not covered and was sewn together as it
crossed the length underneath. It made a cheap and comfortable seat.
It was later covered with leathercloth but became a little warm (sweaty) as
this was a foam backed non-porous plastic material.
If you are tall(ish) it may be an alternative to moving the seat frame about
but it is a lot more work.
