Hi, Rog...

Suggest:
Set the timing back where it belongs and
assuming the butterflys are closing as
they should at idle and throttle cable is not getting hung up somewhere
along the line, spray the intake manifold with some carb cleaner and
start
looking for an intake manifold air leak.

Sounds like you may have a little extra
air getting sucked into the system somewhere along the line.
