OTOH, when someone tells me that after 25 years with a company the rates get
jacked up after a single incident that wasn't their fault, I have to weigh
that into the equation. Likewise, I had a friend insured with a well-known
company who had three accidents in a year, none of which were their fault,
sheer bad luck. Rear-ended while stopped at a red light, rear-ended while
stopped watching the train go by, and the third was a similar situation. All
three incidents involved doing exactly what they were supposed to do, no
options whatsoever. The insurance company apparently decided that they were
not interested in insuring someone having a run of bad luck and raised their
rates astronomically. It is hard to spot that sort of thing in the stats for
us non-pros.
