Sounds like you signed up for Microtrash's .NET passport. It's just another 
way of Bill Gates looking out for you and making sure you get your fill of 
junk.
You have to go to <http://alerts.microsoft.com/>http://alerts.microsoft.com 
and sign in then you can turn them off.
