Thread-topic: That old story about a guy who bought a stolen BMW....
Yeah, it was posted on the roadfly E30 forums, though I can't seem to
find the thread. Basically it's a dude from Seattle that buys an M3 off
of ebay for about $11K (+/- 1K, I can't remember the right number). The
car is in Florida somewhere, so he flies down, one way ticket. He goes
with cash, buys the car, starts to drive home, and it ain't running
right. Eventually he goes to a local BMW shop, and they can't find the
VIN in the computers. He calls the local cops, and they tell him that
the car is stolen, VIN belongs to some insurance company in Rhode
Island. Car is impounded, he's out a ton of money, and repeated attempts
to get it from the seller dont' get him anywhere.

Eventually some Fla. lawyer does get the money back for him from the
seller on condition of pubic apology for some of the nasty things he
said when posting the story on roadfly.

Supposedly the M3 showed up again on Ebay a few months later with a
washed title. Carfax pulled up no history on the car.

I was just thinking about that story that went around a while back about
the
guy who bought an M series BMW, and then found out it was a salvaged car
put
back together with stolen parts (or something like that).

Does anyone remember more to the story, or remember the outcome? I can't
find anything in the archives.. as usual.
