Marco...

I tend to agree with Dave Lieb as to what
you will probably find with respect to front
end wear when you pull the wheels, for
this has been my experience with the
two PO'd used Spridgets I've bought over
time, along with my current BE.

The small end of the A-frame (wishbone, springpan) is to me the "weakest
link"
in terms of front suspension. So even with conscientious maintenance,
lubrication in this area leaves a little something to be
desired.

It is (IMHO) well worthwhile drilling through the "cap" on the "other
side"
of the "small end" and installing a
second grease fitting for better lubrication
of the assembly.

I have only bought one used Spridget
over my lifetime wherein this assembly
was not as Dave has described. I agree
this assembly will go forever even worn
but in all cases, it wouldn't pass inspection in the state (CT) wherein
I reside. As Dave says, once you start
getting into new wishbones, you might
as well, while you're in there.....well,
in for a penny, in for a pound! Might
as well do it "right" then take good care
of it. More safe this way, anyway. Better
control, better handling, etc.

I am told there are A-frames available
grease fittings on both sides of the
A-frame small end, but I am afraid
I do not know of the suppier(s). Easy
mod in any case, though! :
