Okay, thanks for that and your patience, I think I'm getting it. My dizzy
doesn't have that exact number but the number it has corresponds to 1975 OE EID
distributor per the VB catalog and it does have the box on the side, with a
vacuum diaphragm hooked to it - sounds right? So if I understand the
instructions right the basic arrangement is that I sh*tcan the electronics
inside the box but keep the box for its vacuum advance portion? Then I follow
the 'basic wiring diagram' in the instructions? It's a little confusing
because they show a different diagram "700 hookup for MG and Triumph w/ Lucas
OPUS" which shows a different wiring arrangement that retains the OE
electronics then the text seems to say "ignore the picture to the right" so,
when you combine this with my basic stupidity it's a little confusing. Any
confirmation I'm on the right track would be much appreciated.

PS if you're like me you've realized the mechanic's coverall is the way to go.
If you're like me you've watched Jesse James on West Coast Choppers and noticed
he buttons his all the way up. I'm rolling with Jesse and buttoning all the
way up, and I'm getting a very positive reaction from the ladies so far (just
kidding no one ever visits me in the garage)
