Thread-topic: quieter Midget
Hey all,

I got my Midget back from the local hot rod shop, with new custom made
exhaust on it. Much quieter than an open header! The stumble below 2500
rpm is less too, though it does show up a liitle more as the car warms
up. It's quiet enough now that I can hear the leak between the manifolds
and the head, so I need to tighten that up, and maybe replace the
gasket. But what a blast! I had the top down on the way home from the
shop, even though it looked like the skies would open up any minute.

I went out again for a longer run later in the evening after I put a
control arm bushing on backwards for my wife's BMW, and nearly hurled
the thing out a window. Midget therapy is good!. I finally drove the car
long enough to get the oil up to temperature, and it still had 50-60psi
at speed (about 3000 rpm), and 20 psi at idle (900-1000 rpm). Idle speed
dropped a bit after the run, maybe the plugs are clearing, maybe the
seal at the head is uneven, not sure.

The only other hiccup is that I'm losing my clutch. the hydraulics may
need a bleed, but it feels weird - there's a lot of free play at the top
of the pedal, and I can pump it to make it work better, but it still
seems to bleed down if I keep my foot on the pedal too long. Anyone have
any ideas?

Other than that, I'm almost ready for the rally!

-=Chris
