I have a Sprite that was manufactured in 1961, but was registered as a '63.
I suspect the two year delay was caused by the color - it's Deep Pink.  The
car probably sat on a dealers lot for a couple of years until a girl came
along and bought it.  None of us manly men would buy a pink sports car
unless we had been drinking or it was really dark.  :-)
