The lenses are NOT interchangable, but the whole lamp is.
There is a minor adjustment to one of the body holes going from one lamp 
to the other. But I forget if it's putting new lamps on old Spridgets or 
the other way around. I have done it both ways.
The upper lens of the older style is sort of a clip behind the rim and 
over the bottom lens. There is a knack to getting both lenses in the rim 
and locked in.
Also from old to new, the signal is on the upper bulb which is not a 
problem, just know this when wiring the lamp.
