I smell a strong gasoline odor after going for a run and turning it off.  

Do you have a mechanical or electric fuel pump? If mechanical, it could be your 
problem. A bad diaphram will cause it to run poorly at higher RPMs and can 
allow gas to get into your oilpan. Check the oil for the smell of gasoline 
immediately.
