Hi Phil,

Hooking the canister line to the air filters is simply about the same as
letting it hang down by the engine.  Eliminating the smog valve you will no
longer be able to SUCK the blowby from the crankcase into the combustion
chambers and burn them.

Likely the oil "leak" around the dipstick is a result of excessive crankcase
pressure as you no longer have an "active" crankcase ventilation system.
Now probably you have sorta "oil leaks" everywhere on the engine!
