Hi Vigil

Here is my set up in my Bugeye - street use only, daily driver as much 
as I can.

Engine was built by Bill Gilcrease at MinComp Racing Services in Costa 
Mesa, CA. Bill only works on A-series, and is very opinionated about how 
they should be built - a good source of information. He only does the 
engine - carbs, manifolds, electrical, etc. is up to the owner. He does 
advise against Webers on street cars.

1. My engine is a 1275cc block bored out to 1380cc - anything over 
1380cc requires a longer stroke than the 1275cc crank. I am running a 
single HIF6 (1 3/4") SU carb on an alloy intake from APT and LCB exhaust.

2. Bill stated that his engines will produce 110HP (at flywheel) & 102 
ft/lbs torque. I have not have my bugeye on a dyno to check but I would 
guess this would equate to about 80-85HP at rear wheels. Definitely no 
problem with HP driving on the 5 Freeway.

3/4. After 2,000 miles I am getting about 30-32MPG, combination street & 
freeway driving. This is with the Datsun 5-speed and a 3.90 rear end. 
Some guys like to stick with the stock 4.22 rear end for work "gitty up" 
at the lights, but a like the lower RPMs on the freeway.

The 5-speed makes the driving the bugeye a dream. If money is an issue, 
I would keep the 5-speed, and build a 'hot' 1275 -1293 instead.

If you are interested in more specifics, I can dig out my invoices to 
get details on the pistons, rings, pumps, etc.
