Hello Robert,

this is the combination that i'm running...
a 1098 "CC" (2 inch main bearings) with the Datsun, and a 4.22
rear end.... had the engine rebuilt stock, with the exceptions
of a mild cam and adjustable cam sproket....

plenty of grunt off the line, .. i could probably do without
1st gear altogether... i can shift into 5th gear and not lug
down to about 1200 rpms, which is arount 20 mph... .. around
       town i'm generally in 5th by 30 mph..... i'm averaging about 30
mpg, highway town combined.. .. but if i keep it around 60 mph
on the freeway its more like 35 or 36 mpg. i can easily keep up
with 70 mph traffic, and can make forrays into the 80-> 85 mph
range. (that's scary tho!) ... all in all a nice combo... ..

i must admit to not having driven a 1275, but my style of
driving never has been to keep and engine wound up, the way the
1275 is meant to be driven anyway. ...

there's room in the hobby for all types, build what suits!
