as some of you know i'm reassembling a 1971 harley-davidson 125cc italian
(aermacchi) built bike for a pit vehicle. the question is has anyone ever
seen or dome relining of alloy brake shoes with bonded linings? harley
serviced these by selling new lining and it was to be literally glued to the
shoe by dealers, not sent out to a specialty shop. i have a pair of NOS
linings and a very badly used up lined set of brake shoes. i'm afraid to
tear off the remaining lining untill i locate an answer as to what bonding
agent to use. i was told the dealer would strip off the remaining lining
from the shoe apply the adhesive and then clamp the shoe/ lining assembled into
a brake drum untill it set up. then chamfer the edges of the replacement
lining and that was it! H-D does not refrence any adhesive ! (i bet it
causes cancer in lab rats in california?) any ideas on a bonding agent? i've
contemplated "gorilla glue" , "marine tex gray epoxy" as possible bonding
agents so far.
please respond off list due to the non LBC nature of the question.

chuck.
